When home is the right place, and you need a nurse there
Coming home from hospital
The first days home can feel like a lot. A nurse visiting helps you follow the discharge plan your hospital team gave you.
After surgery
Dressings, medication and checking in while you recover at home, for as long as you need it.
Complex care at home
For people living with disability or long-term health needs, where some care needs a nurse rather than a support worker.
Families who want help
When you’ve been doing the clinical tasks yourself and need someone qualified to share the load.
Nursing care we can provide
Nursing at home follows the instructions of your doctor or hospital team. Have your discharge summary or care plan handy when you call.
Nursing support can include
- Wound care and dressings
- Catheter care
- Complex bowel care
- PEG feeding
- Medication management
- Care for people living with dementia
Need something not on this list? Ask us. If it isn’t something we offer, we’ll say so plainly on the first call.
Not included
- Emergency care: in an emergency, call Triple Zero (000)
- Diagnosis or prescribing: that stays with your GP or specialist
- Transport to appointments

Using NDIS or aged care funding instead?
If you have NDIS or aged care funding, it may cover some of this care. Here’s how that works with us.
NDIS participants
We’re a registered NDIS provider (4-GWVHCEY). Complex care such as PEG feeding, catheter care and wound care may be funded as high intensity support in your plan.
High intensity support →Aged care (CHSP)
Our CHSP funding covers domestic assistance only, in Northern Sydney and the Southern Highlands. Nursing for older people under government funding is available via referral or partners.
Aged care →Support at Home
We’re applying to deliver Support at Home and can’t take clients under it yet. Register your interest and we’ll be in touch.

Who provides private nursing?
A registered nurse. Registered nurses are listed on Ahpra’s public Register of practitioners, which you can search by name at ahpra.gov.au.
How much does private nursing cost?
From $120 an hour + GST, which is $132 an hour including GST. Your quote depends on the care you need, and your final price is confirmed in writing before any booking.
Do I need a referral from my GP?
No. You can book private nursing directly. It helps to have your discharge summary, care plan or your doctor’s instructions ready when you call.
Can you help when someone comes home from hospital?
Yes. Call us before discharge if you can, so we can talk through the plan the hospital team has set. It’s also worth asking the ward’s discharge planner what other support you may be eligible for.
What nursing care can you provide?
Wound care and dressings, catheter care, complex bowel care, PEG feeding, medication management and care for people living with dementia. If you need something else, ask us. If it isn’t something we offer, we’ll say so plainly.
Will my private health insurance pay for it?
It depends on your policy. Ask your health fund what it covers for nursing at home and what paperwork it needs. We can give you a written quote to take to them.
Can nursing and personal care be booked together?
Yes. A support worker can help with daily routines such as showering and meals, and a nurse can handle the clinical tasks. We’ll quote for both together.
What if something urgent happens?
In an emergency, call Triple Zero (000). For health questions that aren’t urgent, talk to your GP. This page is general information, not medical advice.
