To check if your NDIS provider is registered, go to the NDIS Commission’s Provider Register and search the provider’s business name, legal name or ABN. Then look at their registration status. “Approved” means they are currently registered. “Revoked” means their registration has been cancelled. The check is free and takes about two minutes.
How to check if your NDIS provider is registered, step by step
- Open the NDIS Commission’s Find a registered provider page. This is the official Provider Register.
- Type in the provider’s business name, legal name or ABN.
- Open the provider’s entry and read the registration status.
- Check the date the registration runs until.
One thing that trips people up: the register can’t be searched by registration number. Use the name or the ABN instead.
In the video we call it the “provider finder”. The official tool for checking registration is the NDIS Commission’s Provider Register, linked above.
What the status means
Approved means your NDIS provider is registered with the NDIS Commission right now.
Revoked means their registration has been cancelled.
Banning orders and other compliance decisions are published separately, on the Commission’s compliance actions page.
Already with a provider? Check again
Even if your NDIS provider is registered on the day you sign, registration can be suspended or revoked later. A provider that was registered last year may not be registered today. Searching their name again takes the same two minutes.
This year it’s worth doing. From 9 April 2026, delivering registration-required supports while unregistered became a criminal offence under the NDIS Amendment (Integrity and Safeguarding) Act 2026. Between April and June 2026 there were a record 111 banning orders and 453 registrations revoked, according to the Minister’s release of 17 August 2026. And from 1 July 2027, mandatory registration expands, starting with higher-risk supports.
Why registration matters
Registered providers have been through an audit against the NDIS Practice Standards. The audit looks at their policies, their procedures and their staff.
That doesn’t mean every support you receive has to come from a registered provider. If your plan is self-managed or plan-managed, you can use unregistered providers for most supports. What registration gives you is a provider whose systems someone independent has already checked.
What it looks like when an NDIS provider is registered
Here’s our own entry as an example. Kinship Uniting Services is a registered NDIS provider, registration number 4-GWVHCEY, based in Colebee and supporting families across Western Sydney. Search “Kinship Uniting Services” on the register and you’ll see our status: Approved, registered until 13 October 2028.
Common questions
Can I search the NDIS Provider Register by registration number?
No. The register searches by business name, legal name or ABN. Use one of those to find the provider, then read their status.
Is the NDIS Provider Finder the same as the Provider Register?
No. The Provider Finder is an NDIA tool. To check whether a provider is registered, use the NDIS Commission’s Provider Register.
What does “Revoked” mean on the register?
It means the provider’s registration has been cancelled. If you see it next to your current provider, talk to them, and look at the Commission’s compliance actions page for any published decision.
Do I have to use a registered NDIS provider?
Not always. Self-managed and plan-managed participants can use unregistered providers for most supports. Some supports can only be delivered by registered providers, and from 1 July 2027 that list starts to grow.
How often should I check if my NDIS provider is registered?
Check before you sign a service agreement, and again any time something doesn’t feel right. Registration can be suspended or revoked, so a past check doesn’t cover today.
Does it cost anything to check?
No. The Provider Register is free to search on the NDIS Commission website.
If something on the register doesn’t look right, or you’re weighing up a new provider, get in touch or call us. We’re happy to talk it through. You can also see the NDIS services we provide.
